On Sept. 30, 2023, Jeremy “Meemer” Saarinen set off on his final adventure.
Jeremy was born on Oct. 3, 1971 to Larry and Judi Saarinen. He came home to Boulder and was greeted by a big brother, Jeff. Jeff would call him “Meemer” and that’s how he’d be known the rest of his life.
Jeremy was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age. He took that challenge with a “tough as nails” attitude that was an inspiration to all.
He attended school in Boulder, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1989, then went on to attend Montana State Northern University in Havre. Jeremy loved cars and worked for a time in body shops. He was employed in the mining industry until health issues caused him to leave the work force.
Meemer enjoyed fishing, playing pool and cards, reading, cheering for the Saints and the Angels, anything with a motor and going fast! His family and friends would describe him as a smart-ass, sassy, sarcastic prankster, a quick-witted wanderer, a social butterfly and a great friend.
Jeremy loved his role as Uncle to Bree and they had so many fun times together. She was also a favorite target for his pranks.
Jeremy is greeted by his beloved mother Judi, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and friends. He will be deeply missed by his father Larry Saarinen, brother Jeff (Kellie) Saarinen, niece Bree Saarinen, uncles, aunts, numerous cousins, friends and his dog Piakka.
Thanks, Meemer for showing us how important it is to really live each day to its best!
At this time, the family is not having any services; they will be determined at a later date. If desired, memories can be made to the American Diabetic Association.
A special note from his niece Bree: “I loved everything about him and there was nothing I could ever hate about him. He was perfect in my eyes. He was my everything. If I could, I would spend every second of my life with him. He was my favorite person and always will be. No words can explain how much he means to me and how much I will miss him.”
