Jefferson High’s Model United Nations Club recently returned from the 52nd annual Model United Conference. The conference was held at the University of Montana from November 20-21. It was attended by 400 students from 21 Montana and Idaho high schools.

At Model UN conferences, students participate in simulations of United Nations sessions, debating, negotiating, caucusing, drafting, and voting on resolutions that address world problems. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Marshall Bloom, Chief of the Biology of Vector-borne-viruses section in the Laboratory of Virology and Associate Director for Scientific Management at Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, Montana.

This year’s JHS students represented Romania, Benin, and Tunisia. This year’ lone senior was Tyler Allen who is eligible for a $1400 scholarship to the U of M next fall.
