Jefferson High expansion making progress

Jefferson High School’s building expansion is quickly taking shape — and, despite some heavy recent rains, staying on schedule.

In the last few weeks, construction crews have erected much of the steel framing for the two-story addition to the east of the existing main school building that eventually will house five new classrooms. “It’s fun to start to see what it’s going to look like,” said JHS Superintendent Erik Wilkerson.

Over the next two months, Wilkerson said, crews will try to close in the addition as well as a new space for career and technical education (CTE). If that work is completed in time, workers can spend the winter months doing interior work.
