Jefferson girls’ basketball coach McMaster resigns

After a 20-3 season, highlighted by a 20-game winning streak and the team’s first district championship in 19 years, Jefferson High School girls’ basketball coach Aubrey McMaster abruptly submitted a letter of resignation to school officials on Mar. 4.

While some details behind her resignation are still being established, McMaster told The Monitor that she was told during the Class Southern Division tournament in Billings that some players’ parents were concerned about her coaching style.

The Jefferson Lady Panthers, one of the top seeds in Class B, were sent home after humbling losses to Baker and Sweet Grass County High Schools. “I really wish they (the parents) would have waited until the season was over as you can tell by our last two games how much it affected the team,” McMaster said.
