Eighth grader Paisley Karlin, left, and seventh grader Christian Gillmore — both students at Clancy School — pose with their trophies for placing second and first, respectively, at the Jefferson County Spelling Bee held in Jefferson County District Court on Feb. 19. They competed against students from schools in Boulder, Cardwell and Montata City who previously won spelling bees held at their respective schools. Gillmore will represent Jefferson County at the Treasure State Spelling Bee at Rocky Mountain College in Billings on March 16. If he is unable to attend, Karlin will represent the county.
