A tier system has been established for Jefferson County residents eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations under the state’s Phase 1B. The tiers prioritize among those eligible in the current phase, which includes those age 70 and older, American Indians and other people of color who may be at an elevated-risk for COVID-19 complications, and persons aged 16-69 years with highrisk for COVID-19 complications.

Currently, the Public Health Department is setting appointments for those age 80 and older under Tier 1. The department also continues to accept those who qualify under the state’s Phase 1A, which included those living long term care facilities and front line health care workers.

The department expects Tier 1 vaccinations to last about two weeks. It then will set appointments for residents 70 and older under Tier 2.
