A new pavilion cover will soon be built to create a shaded area over the three new picnic tables at East Side Park. The picnic tables were constructed by Boulder City Councilman Tim Graff. The tables and pavilion will sit atop a cement pad poured this summer by Corey Kennedy, a Boulder contractor, who also will build the pavilion cover. The park upgrades were part of an effort by the Boulder Kiwanis Club to spruce up the city park, which also involved mowing and repairs to the playground equipment earlier this summer. The small park, off East 2nd Avenue between North Parsons and North Elder Street, had been targeted for improvements by the Boulder Kiwanis, Growing Community Naturally and the city’s Planning Board. The project was estimated to cost about $20,000.
