IBC staffing ‘crisis’ leads to overtime pay boost

Faced with what one employee called a “staffing crisis,” Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services has authorized double-time pay for Intensive Behavioral Center employees working overtime at the facility on the former Montana Developmental Center campus in Boulder.

Client Service Coordinator Tony Zufelt said that the facility has had about 15 openings for direct support professionals, who are responsible for working closely with the facility’s 12 clients.

“There is a staffing crisis,” Zufelt confirmed. “We don’t have enough staff to fill all the shifts, so that’s a problem. Then if staff call off, or get sick, or something, then we get in an even worse spot.”
