A previous contributor to your fine newspaper expressed his horror at the election of Donald Trump and went on to list all the disastrous things he has done and the reasons why he should be impeached.
I would just like to point out that there is also plenty of horror on the other side of the aisle.
I, for one, am horrified by the headlong rush to socialism by every prominent Democrat. Socialism did not make this country the envy of the world, and it certainly will not return us to greatness.
I am horrified by the rampant corruption in Washington, D.C., admittedly on both sides of the aisle, but I don’t see any liberals expressing a desire to change the status quo.
I am horrified by the crazed rush to seize our firearms. Our forefathers included the second amendment for a solid reason. That reason still exists, perhaps more than ever.
I am horrified by abortion up to and including the day of birth. What kind of monsters have we become?
I am horrified by the unwillingness of our elected leaders to confront the evils of uncontrolled illegal immigration, even though most have, when running for election, expressed their own outrage over the issue.
I am horrified by a national news media so caught up on their own bias that they are willing to openly lie about anything to achieve their liberal goals.
I am horrified by the mess that many of our once beautiful cities have become. One thing they have in common is their almost total and long-standing leadership by liberals.
The writer mentioned the decline in the quality of our education system. Once again, liberals have controlled education for decades. Could it be that their ideas simply don’t work?
Our president is working to correct hugely unfair trade practices. These problems should have been corrected by previous presidents from both parties. Tariffs are certainly not a desirable method of pressuring other countries to do their part but are a necessary evil to accomplish a long-term goal. Meanwhile, we are living in the most healthy economic conditions in decades, with unemployment among all Americans, including minorities, at the lowest level in most people’s memory.
Do we have problems? Absolutely! The solution is for our elected leaders to stop looking at the polls and start looking for solutions. When this happens on both sides of the aisle, answers can be found. Accept the election, quit complaining and go to work! – Greg Thackeray, Boulder
