Twenty-three basketball teams with around than two hundred basketball players, enthusiastic spectators cheering for their favorite teams, and local businesses bustling with customers. That’s what the 9th Annual Ballin’ in Big Rock charity basketball tournament brought to Boulder March 31-April 2.

Held at Jefferson High School, and first organized by JHS graduates Laura Llewellyn, Jodi Makela and Brady Smith, the event continues the community tradition of the Boster Basketball Tournament. The Boster was organized by former JHS basketball coach Dick Norden to remember JHS graduate and all-star basketball player Jonathon Boster, who was tragically killed in 1996 responding to a fire in Moses Lake, Washington. Funds raised by the tournament are used to support local non-profit groups.

2017 tournament organizers are JHS graduates Brady Smith and Angela Rutherford, and volunteer coordinator Cheryl Haasakker.
