C-6487 once flew the skies over Boulder on its daily airmail route between Great Falls and Salt Lake City. During the 1920’s, it was a member of the fleet of one of the first passenger airlines to serve the region. Today, the fully restored 1928 Stearman C3MB bi-plane enjoys a quiet retirement in the hangar at the Boulder air strip.

Timothy Talon has painstakingly restored C-6487, bringing back much of the glory the aircraft once proudly showed. Talen lives in Jasper, Oregon most of the year, but always finds a couple of weeks in the spring and summer each year to visit his historic plane in Boulder.

When asked how much time he has spent restoring the plane, Talen laughed and said, “About a whole lifetime.”
