HERE COMES THE SUN Area residents turn to solar power

As winter weather settles in early, many people are thinking about how the cold temperatures will affect their power bills over the next few months. Two local people are resting a little easier, knowing that that even in the unseasonably cold weather, the sun will shine and solar energy will flow into their own personal energy systems.

Donna Rogers and Leah Compton Lewis, both living in the Boulder Valley, spoke with the Monitor about their solar energy systems.

Donna and Rex Rogers live up Quinn Canyon, off Highway 69, and use solar to power their home. Rogers moved here from Colstrip two years ago and bought a house that is “off the grid.”
