At its Jan. 1 meeting, the Jefferson County Commission elected Dan Haggerty to be its new chairman, succeeding Cory Kirsch. Kirsch will continue to serve on the board for the remainder of his term, which expires in 2026.
“We usually rotate between ourselves every two years,” said Kirsch. “Dan will do a great job as chair.”
Haggerty was elected to the Commission in 2022. His new responsibilities as chairman are largely administrative, and include procedurally controlling the flow of future Commission meetings and signing county documents on the Commission’s behalf.
“There’s a bit of a learning curve, but it isn’t so different from normal Commission duties,” said Haggerty. “The Commission itself is a huge responsibility, and I do all I can to care for this community and do anything I can to help our residents.”
