Going Gaga: JHS joins Vegas mental health recap

After completing the pilot program for teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA), two Jefferson High School students and librarian Sarah Layng travelled June 6 to Las Vegas, where they met Lady Gaga and even joined her on stage during a concert.

Jefferson High was one of eight high schools nationwide chosen to participate in the pilot program, which launched in April and concluded in June.

TMHFA, supported by Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and designed by the National Council for Behavioral Health, is the first of its kind in the United States. It was adapted from an Australian model of Mental Health First Aid that was created in 2001.
