Geneology resource at Boulder church

Are you interested in family history? Boulder has a not-so-well-known but valuable resource for learning how to do genealogy. Located at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 501 Jackson St., the FamilySearch Center provides access to a collection of records, resources, and services designed to help people organize their family history.

We can help you register for a free account with FamilySearch, a nonprofit organization and website with access to more than 5.7 billion digital images — the largest collection of genealogy records in the world. Over 1.5 billion individuals have contributed to building this worldwide tree.

The Boulder FamilySearch Center offers free classes to the community on topics like family history research, how to use FamilySearch, writing your own life history, and more. Kim Morrill and Erma Lee provide training and personal assistance at the center. There are four computer research stations with free WiFi providing access to all that FamilySearch has to offer, or you can bring your own PC.

FamilySearch also gives patrons free access to premium genealogy sites like Ancestry.com which normally charge a fee. Once you have a FamilySearch account, we can even help you remotely if you prefer to work from home. A beginner genealogy class will start sometime in January. Email us at mt_boulder@familyhistorymail.org for more information.

Kim Morrill is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Boulder. The FamilySearch Center is open Sundays from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., Tuesdays from 12 to 2 p.m., Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., and by appointment.
