Hi folks, I don’t have a whole lot to report, since most everything is shut down.
The Jefferson County Commission continues to meet Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. We now hold our meetings on Zoom to let the public participate from home. If you have a camera and microphone on your computer, go to zoom.com/join, click on the join a meeting, and enter meeting ID 671-828-8589. Or dial 312-626-6799 on your phone and enter the same ID number.
One of the things we recently discussed was a policy for a junk mobile home incentive program. Basically, if the owner of a junk mobile home would have the mobile home removed from their property and properly disposed of, the County would reimburse a certain amount of the expense, probably around $500. Twenty percent of the junk vehicles program funds can be used for the junk mobile homes, and the County may also put in some PILT money.
The COVID-19 pandemic is hitting close to home. Many of us probably know the two people that tested positive in Jefferson County. I knew the man that passed away in Madison County. These certainly make this virus very real.
I hope everyone is being very cautious and taking care of themselves. At some point this will be behind us and our lives can get back to some degree of normalcy.
Please remember: take part in the U.S. Census. – Leonard Wortman, Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
