From Clancy School: “Zero Hour”

Clancy School has launched a weekly student podcast – and The Monitor is happy to feature the podcasts as they’re produced.

The podcast was seeded six months ago when Jack Johnson, then a Clancy seventh grader, entered National Public Radio’s Student Podcast Challenge. Johnson produced a report on prejudice and discrimination in Montana – which won an honorable mention in the NPR contest and some fanfare on Yellowstone Public Radio.

Johnson’s success inspired his social studies teacher, Ryan Fetherston to create a regular podcast that would supplement his public speaking and history classes, helping students build their communications skills. He figured out the technology, set up three podcasting stations at the school, and reported the first two episodes of “Zero Period” himself last summer.
