Former Helena City Commissioner hired to lobby for county

Former Helena City Commissioner Dan Ellison is lobbying on behalf of Jefferson County at the 2019 Session of the Montana Legislature. Tapped for the role by Commissioner Leonard Wortman — a fellow member of the Boyd Andrew Community Services board — in mid-December, he was hired soon after by the County Commission.

“We are still in the process of developing my work plan,” Ellison said by email, though he noted that the commissioners have identified topics — including property taxes, planning and zoning and the status of the Montana Developmental Center — for him to watch for.

“No doubt there will be other issues that will arise as the session proceeds, and I expect the commissioners will give me guidance on their interests and concerns,” he wrote.
