For senior thespians, one last turn on JHS stage

Jefferson High’s two senior thespians will take the stage for the last time when their final high school play, Kaufman and Hart’s “You Can’t Take It With You,” opens later this week.

Slightly annoyed that they have to come to school several days after graduating, when all their classmates will be enjoying summer, seniors Grace Quigley and Madelynn Averill agreed it was worth it. In the classic comedy, Quigley plays Alice, a young woman with an eccentric family who falls in love with her boss’s son, igniting a feud between families.

Averill plays Alice’s mom, Penny, whom she described as a “crazy playwright.” This will be Quigley and Averill’s fourth play of the 2024-25 school year, Averill’s 10th Jefferson High production overall and Quigley’s 17th, not including one play she directed herself.
