Fire fighters test equipment to save ratepayers money

In the midst of a fire call, a leaky hose or a failing pump could mean disaster.

That is something members of the Jefferson City Volunteer Fire Department recognize and do their best to avoid.

In recent annual exercises, the fire department tested more than 2000 feet of fire hose carried on their two fire engines. Those hoses are used for defending structures and vehicles from fire. They also tested the pumps to be sure they would deliver high pressure when needed.
