Citizens interested in running to be on a local school board in Montana have through March 23 to get on the ballot for the May 2 election. Anyone running a write-in campaign must file a declaration of intent with the district clerk by March 30. Most trustee positions are a three-year term. To get on the ballot, candidates must file a “Declaration of Intent and Oath of Candidacy for Trustee Candidates” with the school district clerk.

That form can be obtained from the clerk or online at opi.mt.gov/ pdf/School/Finance/ElecHB/17ElectionCalendar.pdf.
