The long-anticipated Family Dollar and Dollar Tree joint-store opened this Saturday, giving Boulder residents a new place in town to collect groceries and small wares.
While some Boulder residents expressed concern over potential impacts the store could have on locally owned businesses, others were more optimistic. “We shop at Ace Hardware and Hank’s. We support Dave’s and The Wind- sor. We will shop at L&P and this store,” said Don Marshall in a public facebook post. “It has brought new jobs and choices to Boulder.”
While newly established in Boulder, Family Dollar, which is owned by but held separate from Dollar Tree, announced earlier this Mar. that it would close nearly 600 stores by June, and at least 370 more over the next few years.
