Fairground improvements due by fair time

The Jefferson County commissioners recently approved funding maintenance and improvements at the county fairgrounds that should be completed in time for the annual fair and rodeo from Aug. 22-25.

The commissioners voted unanimously to pay $21,175 for the maintenance, repair, cleaning and painting of the granary, quonset hut and bleachers at Jefferson County Recreation Park.

Jefferson County events coordinator Bruce Binkowski and fair board member Marilyn McCauley presented bids that were submitted for the work.
