Helena resident Dominick Rae Davis, who grew up in Jefferson City and graduated from Jefferson High School, passed away on Tuesday, Apr. 22.
Dominick was born prematurely, weighing just two pounds, on July 15, 2002, in Trier, Germany. He was followed minutes later by his best friend and identical twin brother, Christian. The two were inseparable, and when their family moved back to Montana the boys met their cousin, Brailynn, born 8 hours prior. From that day on, the trio became known as “the triplets”. They did everything together, usually accompanied by laughter.
Dominick had an infectious smile and laughter, no matter the circumstances. As a teen, he loved playing sports, including wrestling, cross country, track, and baseball. Being born prematurely, the odds were stacked against him and Christian, but this only added to their competitive nature and drove both to do their best.
Dominick, who would often be heard before being seen due to his constantly blasting music, enjoyed dirt biking, hunting, fishing, bowling, working out, and playing video games.
Whenever the family went out, Dominick would ask, “Do I need to bring my bowling ball?” Of course, it became a running joke. Another running joke was his love for Snickers chocolate bars. Dominick could often be found with a Snickers in hand. As a result, he would have to run endless laps – laughing all the while – before wrestling meets to make weight.
Passionate about music, Dominick would have a new song to play every time you saw him. His other passion was his dream car: his 1996 Toyota 4Runner, which he spent countless hours upgrading, bragging about, and sitting in, jamming out to music.
Dominick could spend hours doing many things, but he spent most of his time with his family, the most important thing in his life. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it took all of Dominick’s family to raise him and his cousins.
He had such a beautiful heart, which only grew the better you knew him. An outstanding NCO, or non-commissioned officer, he was incredibly proud of serving his country. He could be a goofy personality, but he could also be an inspiring leader and teacher. His years of military service – four years in the Army National Guard and nine months deployed overseas – made a real impact. He was a disciplined soldier who put 100 percent into everything he did.
Dominick was irreplaceable and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He is survived by his parents Curt and Brittany Davis, twin brother Christian, sister Shelby, younger brother Gabe; grandparents Papa (Mike) and Gramma (Virginia) DeMers, Glen and Gloria Davis, and Jeannette Smith; aunts Brandy (Alex Rintamaki), Brooks (Jeff Rudolph), uncles Mike Davis (Pam) and Greg Nichols (April), cousins Brailynn DeMers, Kylar Rintamaki, Korbin Rintamaki, Jace Rudolph, Kimber Rintamaki, and Joe (Skyler) Davis, Twila Davis, and Tanner Davis. Several other cousins, friends he considered brothers, and his military family.
Dominick was preceded in death by his Aunt Melissa Davis and his grade school best friend Caleb Allen. All three left us way too soon. Services were held Monday, Apr. 28, at 10 a.m. at the South Baptist Church in Montana City.
