David Zirngibl, 71, of Boulder

David H. Zirngibl of Boulder died in his home on Oct. 10, 2022. His companion Kathie was present to see him off. He was 71. 

David was born on Jan. 14, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI, to Raymond and Carol Zirngibl. He had two sisters and two brothers. David graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, with a degree in philosophy. He attended graduate school at the University of Iowa in Ames, IA, where he studied anthropology. He enjoyed student teaching there. He loved being involved in academia and had aspirations of being a professor. 

Over his lifetime, he worked in several occupations including factory work, auto mechanics and as staff at several group homes. His latest position was milking goats and hauling milk to the cheese plant for a Helena goat dairy. 

Dave helped his companion raise goats and was talented constructing sheds for them. He was also a talented musician, playing classic rock on his electric guitar. His favorite music to play was Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles. He enjoyed yoga and hiking. 

Dave passed away after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer this past summer. He is survived by his companion, Kathie of Boulder; his mother Carol Zirngibl of Wisconsin; brothers Bill Zirngibl of Michigan and John Zirngibl of Wisconsin; and sisters Linda Zirngibl and Carol Ann Zirngibl, both of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Zirngibl. 

There will be a scattering of his ashes at an undetermined time. Retired pastors Him Heikes and Dee Anna will preside over the ceremony. Condolences can be sent to Kathie at P.O. Box 342, Boulder, 59632.
