The Jefferson High School cross country team will compete in its final regular-season competition this Saturday at Townsend. The 10 a.m. meet will be the last event for the runners prior to the State meet to be held at Helena October 21.
Last week’s 7 of 7 Meet at Helena gave the runners a chance to see what they could do on the course where the State event will be held. Hunter Henschel, who has been a leader for the Panthers all season, finished the run in 19:48.85. That time brought him across the finish line in 34th place in the very competitive No. 1 race.
For the Panther girls, Abby Supalla covered the course in 28:25.63, good for 36th place in the No. 2 race. At the State meet, the Class B boys will leave the starting line at 9:30 a.m. and the Class B girls will take off an hour later. The meet is held at the Bill Roberts Golf Course.
