Cowboy Hall of Fame on hold

Plans to build a Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center in Big Timber have fallen short, at least for now, backers say. The news comes after wetland issues on the proposed site led to termination of lease to purchase agreements with the landowners, said an announcement issued by the board of directors Sunday. 

“No path forward to develop the building site exists,” said a press release, noting that efforts to develop the cultural center had been underway for five years. The Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center will continue its Hall of Fame Induction program while strategizing next steps, said the organization.
