County wins major mental health grant

Jefferson County looks set to significantly improve mental health access after the Public Health Department won a $250,000 state grant for behavioral health innovation.

Announced in April, the two-year grant, from a new Montana program called Behavioral Health Systems for Future Generations, will enable the county to hire its first behavioral health coordinator.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Jefferson County,” said Public Health Director Pam Hanna, who had yet to finalize a timeline for hiring the new coordinator. “We hope to move forward soon.”
