County, Boulder school get grant to teach parenting skills

Thanks to a Montana Healthcare Foundation grant, parents of young students from Boulder and Basin will have access to a proven parenting course beginning this fall.

The $11,642 grant will support hiring someone for one year to teach Active Parenting Now, a six-week curriculum that “teaches how to develop courage, responsibility, cooperation, self-esteem and respect in your children as well as explaining positive discipline and communication techniques that help families run more smoothly,” according to a description of the course book by Michael Popkin.

The curriculum is for parents of kids 5 to 12.
