Cottage Five health plan gains traction

The Jefferson County Public Health Department has its eyes on Cottage Five on the former Montana Developmental Center South Campus, just south of the county road department, as the potential location for a wellness center.

Jefferson County finally got a window into what a new home for its Public Health Department might entail, and how much it could cost.

The conclusion was more promising than it had expected.

The County Commission on Nov. 21 heard a presentation from High Plains Architects, the Billings-based firm that has been hired to assess the feasibility of converting so-called Cottage Five, a century-old, 10,782-square-foot structure on the former Montana Developmental Center’s South Campus, into a county health facility.
