Company eyes ‘green’ hydrogen plant launch in Whitehall

That’s Tim Blake, the CEO of Hydrogen Future Industries Energy Systems (HFI). Earlier this week, HFI announced its intention to build a 500 megawatt (MW) clean energy facility in Whitehall’s Sunlight Business Park, where it will utilize novel wind farm technology to create so-called green hydrogen.

Blake says HFI has commenced the application and permitting process for the first stage of its energy park, which will see an initial 100MW capacity installed in Whitehall, he expects, within the next 12 to 20 months. The facility, once operational, could be increased to 500MW over a five-year period, Blake says, at an estimated final cost of nearly $2 billion. HFI, though affiliated with a company of the same name based in the United Kingdom, operates as an independent firm headquartered in Whitehall.
