Community DD providers tell legislators more money, crisis response system needed

An interim committee of the legislature is zeroing in on proposals regarding developmental disability services it will take to the 2019 Legislature.

Reviewing a set of five draft bills in June, the Children, Families, Health and Human Services interim committee came closer to fashioning its recommendations to the full legislature.

Based on comments from committee members and the public, three topics – increasing wages for direct care workers, adding flexibility to system funding, and creating a crisis response system – seem to be coming to the foreground.
