Commissioners to hold rotating night meetings

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners has set a new routine: on the last Tuesday of each month it will hold its afternoon session at 6 p.m., reviving a past practice in hopes of increasing public awareness. The meetings will be held in Boulder, Montana City and Whitehall — and possibly elsewhere — on a rotating schedule.

The first evening meeting was held April 30 in Boulder and dominated by talks about economic development county officials propose to site near the I-15 interchange in Boulder.

The second meeting was held May 28 at Montana City City Fire Station No. 1. After discussing and approving which improvements to make to the county’s solid waste system, Commission Chair Leonard Wortman explained the reasoning behind the new schedule.
