Commissioners advised of positions on federal policies by western counties group

Counties should have more of a role in the management of public lands so the lands can be part of the “production process,” and the Antiquities Act and NEPA (National Environmental Protection Act) need revising because they are “far too restrictive.” 

Those were among the positions espoused last week by Ken Brown, spokesman for Western Counties Alliance, during a meeting of the Jefferson County Commission. The WCA, based in Utah, advocates greater county participation in multiple use of public lands and resources.
