Commission sets ballot measure

RELATED

At its Feb. 20 meeting, the County Commission approved ballot measure asking voters to decide if a Local Government Review Committee should be established. The measure, created under Montana’s 1972 constitution, requires local city and county governments to query voters every 10 years on the need for a review of local government practices. Voters last approved such a commission in Jefferson County in 1994.

The commissioners also supported a request by Department of Emergency Services Coordinator Doug Dodge to extend the leadership and update the central intent of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) to reflect its role in planning for potential hazardous materials situations.
