This letter is to commend Jefferson County Public Health Officer Joan Van Duynhoven and the public health staff. They are doing a thankless job and doing it very well. The job of the Health Department is to oversee the general well being of the community and every decision they have made so far is based on policy, experience, and scientific data. These have not been easy decisions and are not made cavalierly.
We are lucky to have these people working for us.
It is time for us to respect and support the department and follow protocol.
