The Clancy Elementary School Board meeting on Oct. 9 began promptly at 5:30 p.m., as scheduled, but was soon disrupted by the news of a local tragedy.
The meeting began with school superintendent Daryl Mikesell requesting a change on the agenda to allow Cori Trudeau to provide information to the board about the Montana Educator Curriculum Consortium, or MECC.
While Trudeau was speaking, Mikesell was called away. He returned to the meeting moments later and requested a short recess. When the meeting resumed, board members appeared visibly shaken, and began to move quickly through the remaining agenda items, tabling non-urgent issues until the next meeting.
Mikesell explained later that he had informed board members of an automobile crash involving a fatality of a Clancy teenager and former Montana City School student.
