Clancy Eagle Scout project aims for the stars

Heath Caldwell of Clancy has turned his eyes to the heavens, and he has turned his aspirations to seeing the vastness better.

As his Eagle Scout project, Caldwell is working to recondition and stabilize an observatory at the Montana Learning Center. The MLC at Canyon Ferry Lake provides “quality immersion experiences for all in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics,” says the organization that welcomes campers every summer.

A past MLC camper, Caldwell is focused on improving an observatory recently donated by the Helena Astronomical Society. The high school freshman plans to recondition the observatory with help from fellow scouts, high high school outdoor club, and community members.
