On Monday, Sept. 11, the Boulder City Council met to finalize the 2023-24 fiscal year budget, at least that was the council’s intent. Finalizing the budget has been delayed until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when the council will reconvene at City Hall. The reason for the delay involves the inability to reach city accountant Michael Blakely.
According to City Council member Bear Taylor, the City still needs to determine final adjustments to the revenue and expenditure budget regarding health insurance and making sure departments don’t go over cash reserves.
“And a multitude of other little things,” he said.
City Clerk Megan McCauley said much of the budget has already been determined, including the number of maximum mills, which are slated at 132.72, for a total ad valorem tax revenue of $240,283.
According to the agenda, the council invites the public to attend and welcomes and encourages public comment.
More information will be published in The Monitor when the budget is finalized.
