Chili makes for a hot fundraiser

The 8th Annual “Fire Alarm Chili Supper” took place at the Jefferson City Community Center and Fire Hall Saturday evening. The event raises money for Jefferson City Volunteer Fire Department. According to Dave Cooper, the Community Center’s vice president, the 119 residents of Jefferson City, Clancy, Boulder, Montana City and Helena who partook was the largest crowd yet, raising $1,604 for the department. They could choose from 23 varieties of chili, 20 kinds of cornbread and 16 desserts including cookies, pies, cakes and fruit cobblers. “As one lady remarked to [me], we need more of these opportunities to be together and supportive of each other,” said Fire Chief Bud Siderits.
