In Gabriel Furshong’s op-ed in the June 5 Monitor, she thinks we should delete any reference to the vigilantes of Montana. The vigilante’s were a part of Montana as it grew, and deleting any reference to them is not going to change our Montana’s past.

Try as you might the past is the past and you can not change it, even if you burned every book that mentions the vigilantes. Just as some folks want to delete everything that has to do with the southern states part in the civil war, it is not going to change the fact that the civil war happened.

One needs to keep what has happened in the past so everyone is aware of what happened, such as the concentration camps in Europe. So there are good reasons we need to keep our past visible.
