“And people say there’s nothing going on in Boulder?” That was the tongue in cheek comment made by Connie Grenz, member of Boulder Transition Advisory Council (BTAC), after hearing about the full schedule of meetings and events planned for March in Boulder.
BTAC met on Thursday, March 1, to hear reports from local leaders, organizations and BTAC committees. Several successful grant applications were announced, including a $1000 matching grant to the Boulder Chamber to develop an improved web site. Jefferson County also received a $8000 grant from Southwest Montana to promote county events. People gave Bruce Binkowski, county event coordinator, and LaDana Hintz, county planner, a hand to congratulate them for receiving grants for community improvements.
Tim Norbeck, Jefferson High Superintendent, talked about upcoming activities at the high school, including the girls’ basketball team going to divisional tournament, a jazz concert and dinner on March 14, and a play on March 15-17. He noted rising enrollment, leading the school to hire more teachers and offer more classes. Dual credit classes offered at JHS allow high school students to take college level courses for about a third of what they normally cost, helping with the high costs of college, he reported.
