Jefferson County’s Planning Department has released a draft Growth Policy aimed at guiding future development while preserving the county’s natural beauty, infrastructure, and quality of life. The policy is now available for public review, and residents are encouraged to provide feedback before it is finalized.
The draft Growth Policy serves as a blueprint for managing population growth, land use, economic development, and environmental conservation. The county has been working closely with local stakeholders and collected public comments to ensure the policy reflects the values and priorities of its residents.
Public engagement is a crucial part of this process, and the Jefferson County Planning Board invites residents, business owners, and community organizations to review the draft and provide input. A series of Open Houses will be held to discuss the policy and gather feedback.
The first open house will be on Mar. 31 in Montana City at the Fire Station, 1192 Hwy 282. The second will be on Apr. 2 in Whitehall at the Old Cheese Factory, 309 E. Legion St. And the last will be on Apr. 3 in Boulder at the Clerk and Recorder’s Conference room, 102 S. Monroe St.
For all open houses, residents are welcome to stop by any time between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. The draft growth policy will be available for review, and posters will be displayed showing sections of the growth policy, public survey results, and goals and actions. We encourage all residents to drop in and take a few minutes to examine the Growth Policy, share their thoughts, and have their voices heard.
Residents unable to attend the open house can review the draft policy online at www.jeffersoncounty-mt.gov (under “Meetings and Agendas”) and submit comments via email to LaDana Hintz at lhintz@jeffersoncounty-mt.gov.
