Boys’ golf eye another state crown

The JHS boys’ golf program begins its 2025 season as returning Class B state champions, with hopes of securing their third state championship in four years, while the girls’ team aims to qualify for the state tournament.

“There’s always more work to do, but the ultimate goal, for the boys, is obviously to be the back-to-back state champs,” said JHS head golf coach Anna DeMars. “The kids have worked all summer and winter, and are ready to be competitive.” 

The 12-member JHS boys’ team returns three of five varsity starters: seniors Tyson Lee and Ben Werner and sophomore Carson Lee. Tyson Lee took third overall at state last year, with an aggregate score of 150, and Ben Werner took fifth with a score of 154. Carson Lee, the squad’s youngest returning member, had a score of 198.
