Boulder is not among the finalists for the new home of the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame. That bit of news was shared by Jefferson County Commissioner Leonard Wortman when the Boulder Development Fund (BDF) Board met May 2.
According to Wortman, the Cowboy Hall of Fame board said they are working with site finalists Dillon and the Great Falls CMR Museum. Wortman said he wrote to the board asking them to give reasons for the decision and urging them to reconsider including Boulder.
On another topic, the board recommended that the City of Boulder send a portion of the bill for the Downtown Master Plan effort to the Montana Department of Commerce for reimbursement from the $500,000 grant approved last year by the legislature and governor.
The board is pursuing a special meeting with Department of Commerce representatives this spring to discuss common issues. A walk through of the MDC campus is also planned for that day.
Other topics discussed included progress on installing high speed internet in Boulder, an upcoming meeting requested by the Department of Transportation about a potential Boulder rest area, and progress reports on the Downtown and Fairgrounds master plans.
Mayor Rusty Giulio said the fairgrounds is booked through the summer, and that he sees a direct increase in his business as a result of activities at the fairgrounds.
