Boulder officer graduates law enforcement academy

Boulder Police Officer Travis Rasmussen graduated Friday from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Course. The 12-week course by the Montana Department of Justice includes academic, physical, and practical training in professional law enforcement.

The class of more than 50 officers from all over the state and a large crowd of supporters were told by Chief Deputy Attorney General Jon Bennion they would be facing dangers including drug-related felonies four times higher than in 2010, and a public health epidemic. He said they would be supported by a state that highly values law enforcement.

After the presentation of awards and certificates, Montana chief Justice Jim Shea administering the Oath of Office. The graduates pledged to “serve mankind, safeguard lives and property, protect all persons against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder, and to respect the constitutional rights of all people – to liberty equality, and justice.”
