The City of Boulder Planning Board will host an open house on Monday, June 2, to gather input from the public about changes to the City of Boulder Zoning Code before recommending adoption by the City Council.

The zoning code is a set of regulations that govern construction and land use within Boulder City limits. The code is organized by a new proposed zoning map which divides the city into six separate zoning districts, each with its own set of regulations. This is a change from the current map which has four zoning districts. The six zoning districts are: Residential, Mixed Use, General Commercial, Central Business, Public and Institutional, and Parks Recreation and Open Land.

The Central Business and Mixed Use Districts are new. The Central Business District will comprise the four and a half blocks on either side of Main Street between 1st Avenue and 4th Avenue. It is intended to be the central focus of the city’s business, government, service and cultural activities. The uses in this district should be those that are appropriate in a high density commercial center.
