Boulder Development Fund takes a key step forward by Jan Anderson, editor
Boulder moved a step closer to taking advantage of a $500,000 economic development award last week. The Jefferson County Commissioners and the Boulder City Council formally adopted a joint resolution to form the Boulder Development Fund Board. The purpose of the board is to “provide broad-based citizen input to the City of Boulder in the expenditure and tracking” of the $500,000 approved by the 2017 Montana Legislature.
According to the resolution, the city and county will be joined by representation from the Jefferson Local Development Corporation, Boulder Area Chamber of Commerce, Boulder Transition Advisory County and local schools to make up the board. Members will be appointed as soon as possible with an August 15 deadline, says the resolution. The board is the result of work done by representatives of all of those agencies as well as scores of area citizens since the 2015 Montana Legislature adopted and enacted legislation to close the Montana Developmental Center.
