Billboards planned to promote county

RELATED

Billboards promoting the Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo will go up this summer, thanks to the work of county event coordinator Bruce Binkowski and funding approval by the county commission. In a unanimous vote April 18, the commission authorized $1985 to erect three billboards for 30 days. Plans call for one billboard in the Whitehall area to promote Frontier Days and the other two to promote the fair and rodeo.

Erecting the billboard was only one of several ideas brought to the commission by Binkowski for increasing the positive exposure of the county. Since taking the newly created position as event coordinator earlier this year, Binkowski has been in touch with many groups and organizations about how he can help promote the county. Among groups he mentioned: Rockin’ the Rivers, the Chamber, the fair board, the rodeo club, the Ballin’ in Big Rock basketball tournament, the Basin Community Hall, Frontier Days, the Butte 110 cycle race which passes through portions of the county, the Elkhorn Endurance Run, Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and more.

Binkowski and county mapping specialist Melissa Morris have been working on a brochure to promote the county and its events. Release of that brochure is planned for late spring/early summer.
