At the library, pick up a blind (book) date

It’s the most romantic event of the year at Boulder Community Library: “Blind Date with a Book.”

“Sometimes you have those books that are really good — but because they’re older, they don’t check out,” says Librarian Jodi Smiley. Like Shakespeare, say, or Pride and Prejudice, or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Some people need a nudge to pick them up.

Or a little mystery. Through February, the library is offering books concealed in Valentine’s Day wrapping – with a one-line description lifted from the Goodreads site. “That’s all they know,” Smiley says – and people can’t open the wrapping until they’ve checked the book out.
